Among the summer events in Cortona you cannot miss Cortona Mix Festival, a big cultural event of music, cinema, theater, arts and literature, a cocktail of performances and meetings, wine tasting and local products tasting and social events. The beautiful Etruscan town of Cortona hosts this big event on the national and international scale where contemporary culture, technology and entertainment is combined with ancient origins and traditions of the territory in a fascinating mix of genres and shows that will be taking place in the lovely frame of Piazza Signorelli, of Theater Signorelli and of MAEC Museum (Museum of the Etruscan Academy and the City of Cortona).
The cultural festival of Cortona, conceived in 2012 by the Feltrinelli Group and the Comune di Cortona, with the contribution of Regione Toscana, of Fondazione Orchestra Regionale della Toscana, of Fondazione Toscana Spettacolo and of Accademia degli Arditi, presents an original formula among the cultural events in Tuscany and in the whole of Italy where arts are mixed up and melted according to ideas and projects based on contamination, comparison and provocation. Cortona Mix Festival represents the future of Cortona, carrying a wave of innovation and modernity in a context of high historical and artistic importance that is deeply rooted in the Etruscan, Roman and Medieval times.
The Mix Show evening shows (concerts, live performances, parties) combine with interesting meetings with publishers and film directors within Incontri di Cortona, with films and videos shown within Visions and laeffe, with all Mix Cocktails cultural events, ranging from cinema to football, from philosophy to music and contemporary arts, as well as amazing wine tours to discover the excellent producers of Cortona DOC wines. The Mix Prize is awarded to the best book published in Italy, based on the combined vote of Feltrinelli booksellers and the readers of the festival official bookshop run by Librerie Feltrinelli.
A not-to-be-missed event of the summer season in Cortona, the Cortona Mix Festival returns to host storytellers, essayists and authors, and to cover the entire musical range from rock to folk to classical music. There are also interesting morning workshops, nightly screenings and the festival’s usual hybrid events, which this year will bring together comic books and music, storytelling and live shows. A stimulating program full of surprises, which for the third consecutive year in a row is both entertaining and thought-provoking, reminds everyone that the mix of identity and diversity is the real essence of arts, society and daily life.
