Farmhouse “La Sosta di Annibale”, overlooking lake Trasimeno, is nestled within a 50 acre estate comprising woodland (5 acres), arable land (currently forage land) as well as 6000 square metres of orchards, olive-groves and vineyards for family use.

Our farm produces excellent white wine (Trebbiano and Malvasia) with no added chemicals as well as an outstanding Vinsanto.
In the fall, our century-old olive-groves yield a fine olive-oil with a pleasant fruity taste to it.

Our farmhouse sits high on the foothills overlooking lake Trasimeno, on the border of Umbria and Tuscany, only 400 metres from the road connecting Tuoro sul Trasimeno and Terontola; Cortona is only 8 miles away; the surroundings of this charming farmhouse were the site of the famous battle of Lake Trasimeno; here in 217 B.C. the Roman army was routed by the Carthaginian army led by Hannibal.
Completely refurbished in 2001, the farmhouse is surrounded by lawns, wheat and sun-flower fields, olive-groves and woodland, in a private location overlooking lake Trasimeno. The well-kept, fenced front-yard (ideal for kids) features extensive lawns as well as a beautiful 7 x 12 metre swimming-pool (with Roman-style steps; 1 meter deep in the shallowest point, 1,80 in the deepest). The farmhouse includes five independent apartments, two on the first floor and three on the ground-floor, each with large living-room with TV set, sofas, kitchenette complete with oven and fridge, two double-bedrooms and bathroom with shower. Extra beds for kids available on request.

Each apartment is equipped with fine garden furniture, electricity and gas; a washing-machine and a barbecue are available for shared use. All apartments are tastefully furnished with fine rustic-style furniture. A private parking facility is available within the estate. A beautiful cycling route winding  its way around lake Trasimeno leaves from the nearby village (¾ mile away from our farmhouse) of Borghetto. Cortona,  a charming hill-town located 10 minutes away from the farmhouse, is one of the best known tourist destinations in central Italy. A stunning medieval town and ancient Etruscan city enclosed by massive, extremely well-preserved walls, Cortona possibly offers one of central Italy’s most stunning panoramic views. Its streets are lined with bars, restaurants, antique shops and local product and arts and crafts shops which make it an ideal destination fro shopping lovers; a visit to the town museums is a must.  Banks, post-offices and railway stations are available in the nearby villages of Terontola and Tuoro sul Trasimeno (both 2 miles away). Its central location makes our farmhouse an ideal base for day-trips to all major tourist destinations in central Italy (Florence, Siena, Assisi, Orvieto, Rome, Arezzo, Perugia and Pisa). Nearby fine food and wine destinations include Cortona, Montepulciano, Pienza and Montalcino.
