Azienda Agricola Mezzetti - Wine Tasting

Farm Mezzetti organizes everyday from Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 12 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., a wine tasting of its products at agriturismo "La Casa Colonica" in Vernazzano Basso (Tuoro Sul Trasimeno), which is located a few kilometers away from Cortona and Lake Trasimene. This tasting comprises all the wines produced by Mezzetti in Umbria and Tuscany.

Every Wednesday we organize full-service wine tours, leaving at 10 a.m. from our agriturismo, visiting the vineyards, the Cellar and the Mill. After coming back to the agriturismo, you will enjoy a tasting of wines and local products like bruschette, cold cuts, cheese and desserts. The tour is only available upon reservation and it costs 5€ per person.

The farm has 10 hectares vineyard on the whole. Eight hectares are cultivated with red San Giovese, Cabernet, Merlot DOC Colli del Trasimeno and DOC Cortona, and Syrah grapes, while the other two are cultivated with white Grechetto and Trebbiano IGT grapes. Part of the vineyard is located within the holiday farm, where we produce IGT wines of Umbria, whereas the other part is in Terontola di Cortona, where we make DOC wines.

Here you can find the cellar for the wine-making, which is accurately managed all over the year by skilled professionals and by people who love nature and the fruits of the earth, which gives us a high quality product every year. The particular structure of the vineyard, the different kinds of grapes and the care put in growing them make everything beautiful to see as well as producing high-quality wine.

To arrive at agriturismo "La Casa Colonica", take the “Valdichiana” exit of the A1 highway, then take the freeway Siena-Perugia (direction to Perugia) and exit at “Tuoro sul Trasimeno”. Keep right and turn right at the crossroads to Passignano, and after about 1.5 km you will find on your left a street sign to Vernazzano. From this point, follow the directions to “La Casa Colonica Az. Agrituristica”.
